Bilodeau Captures Spring PGA Stroke Play Title & Earns Berth in 2013 Travelers Championship

No Doubt with a Three-Stroke Margin

AMHERST, Mass. (May 13, 2013) – “It hasn’t even sank in yet,” says Kyle Bilodeau of Hop Meadow Country Club, following a three-under-par, 141, to capture his first Spring PGA Stroke Play title and snag a spot in the 2013 Travelers Championship, June 20-23. “I shot 70 this morning and I putted well. I’ve been working with my Head PGA Pro, Jason [Waters] on my putting… and I got on some good greens today and it finally started clicking.”

Ironically enough, Bilodeau was paired with defending champion, Ian Marshall of Watertown Golf Club, and he expected a good match. “I had a blast out there playing with Ian,” says Bilodeau. “When we went out on the second 18, I birdied the first and Ian birdied the second. I’m thinking ‘Wow, we’re going to have a shootout here’ but I ended up pulling away in the end.”

H. Smith Richardson Honored as Walter Lowell Public Golf Course Distinguished Service Award Recipient

Jim Alexander, Head PGA Professional, is Honored to Receive Award

ROCKY HILL, Conn. (May 10, 2013) – The Connecticut Section PGA announced that H. Smith Richardson Golf Course in Fairfield, Conn., has been named the 2013 recipient of the Walter Lowell Public Golf Course Distinguished Service Award, as the model public golf course serving the game of golf in Connecticut and Western Massachusetts. The award was inaugurated in 2001 in honor of Canton Public Golf Course for the standards it set towards a public course’s responsibility to its community to provide playing opportunities for all those who want to play and learn the game.

H. Smith Richardson Golf Course was opened for business in 1972. Located in Fairfield, Conn., it is the only public golf course in a town of 55,000 residents. In addition to servicing the residents of Fairfield, H. Smith Richardson has often been referred to as Fairfield County's public golf course as residents from all over southern Fairfield County call “Smith” home due to a lack of public facilities in the area. Playing an average of 45,000 rounds per year, H. Smith Richardson has served as a valuable recreational facility for the entire area. In addition to their 18-hole facility, the Town of Fairfield and PGA Professionals oversee and manage a Par 3 course, the Carl J. Dickman Par 3, located in southern Fairfield. This course plays and average of 25,000 rounds per year.
