Marrello And Perez Lead The Senior Connecticut PGA Championship; Mahon Wins The Legends Division

STONINGTON, Conn. – Fran Marrello, PGA Professional from Canaan Country Club and Ted Perez, PGA Professional from East Mountain Country Club (Mass.) fired even par 72’s  today at Stonington Country Club in Stonington, Conn., to lead the 59th Senior Connecticut PGA Championship. Finishing the day one shot back with one over-par 73’s were Tony Kelley, PGA Professional from Wyckoff Country Club, John Paesani, PGA Professional from Norwich Golf Course and Mike Carney, PGA Professional from Watertown Golf Club. Defending champion, Jack McConachie, PGA Professional from Pine Valley Golf Course shot two over-par 74 and is two shots back.

Ray Mahon, PGA Professional from Oak Lane Country Club and defending champion won the Legends Division, carding a seven-over-par 76.

Of all the players in the Senior Connecticut PGA Championship, nine are attempting to qualify for three spots into the Senior PGA Professional National Championship, contested October 7 – 10, 2010, at Toscana Country Club in Indian Wells, Calif. and Rancho La Quinta Country Club in La Quinta, Calif.  Round two will begin tomorrow at 7:30 AM.
