Jason Liu Claims Division Title in First Annual 9-Hole Invitational
EAST GRANBY, Conn. (July 11, 2011) - The Connecticut Section PGA Junior Golf Tour administered the first annual 9-Hole Invitational hosted by Copper Hill GC in East Granby, Conn. today. The event featured 46 golfers, ages ranging from 5 to 12, all playing 9 holes.
Jason Liu of Windsor, Conn. claimed the 10-12 year old division title firing an even, 36. Coming in close behind, was Arthur Ouimet with a one-over 37, and Noah Peterson with a two-over 38. In the 6-9 year old division Will Depault finished first with a 52.

Defending Champion, Szewczul, Leads Field of 10 Former Champions in Connecticut Senior Open
GROTON, Conn. (July 7, 2011) – The 29th edition of the Connecticut Senior Open will be held Monday and Tuesday, July 11-12, at Shennecossett Golf Course in Groton, Conn. This is their 14th consecutive year hosting the tournament. Defending champion David Szewczul of Farmington, Conn., heads the ten former champions who are among the 140 players; 70 amateurs and 70 professionals, ranging in age from 50 to 81, participating in the Open. Ten states are represented in the field, with Connecticut being the largest: 106 players from 68 different towns.

Mullen and Whaley Capture 2011 Connecticut Junior PGA Championship
ROCKY HILL, Conn. (July 6, 2011) - Monte Mullen and Kelly Whaley both of Farmington, Conn. won the 2011 Connecticut Junior PGA Championship Tuesday, July 5 and Wendesday July 6 at Hunter GC in Meriden, Conn. and Timberlin GC in Berlin Conn.
By winning the boys’ and girls’ divisions respectively, Mullen and Whaley qualified for the 36th Junior PGA Championship, Presented by Under Armour and Heritage F.S.E., Aug. 2-5, 2011, at Sycamore Hills Golf Club in Fort Wayne, Ind. Mullen, 18, posted a final-round 71 for a two-day total of 139 and a seven-stroke victory over Billy Walthouse of Longmeadow, Conn. Whaley, 14, had a final-round of 75 for a two-day total of 145 and a 13-stroke victory over Nicole Yatsenick of Middlebury, Conn.

Mullen and Whaley lead the Connecticut Section Junior PGA Championship; Levy and Martin win the 9-hole Divisions
ROCKY HILL, Conn. (July 5, 2011) – As the first day of competition comes to a close for the Connecticut Junior PGA Championship at Hunter Memorial Golf Club, Meriden, Conn. and Timberlin Golf Club, Berlin, Conn., Kelly Whaley of Farmington, Conn. leads the girls firing an even-par, 70 with four birdies on the day. The boys division is led by Monte Mullen of Farmington, Conn. with a two-under, 68 carding four birdies. “It was my first time seeing the course”, Mullen said, “but I just kept telling myself to plod my way along, hit fairways and greens, and that good scores would come. I didn’t try to force anything.”

Hallisey and Yatsenick Win at New London Country Club
WATERFORD, Conn. (June 30, 2011) – A perfect day to play golf at New London Country Club, Waterford, Conn. for the third Junior Golf Tour event of the season. Strong winds and high fescue led to some high scores however.
The 9 hole division saw a repeat winner for the girls division with Gabrielle Martin from Madison, Conn winning her second tournament in a row shooting a 43. For the boys division Brendan Fagan from Unionville, Conn took the trophy shooting a four over par 40.

Chicopee Country Club and PGA Professional Tom DiRico Win the Nike Golf PGA Pro-Am Series Event #3
NEWINGTON, Conn. (June 28, 2011) - The Chicopee Country Club team, led by PGA Professional Tom DiRico turned in a 15-under par, combined gross and net score of 129 today, to win the Nike Golf PGA Pro-Am Series Event #3 at Indian Hill Country Club. DiRico and amateur partners Jim DiRico, Jay DiRico, and Mike Trombley collected $999 in prize money and gift certificates.

First Hole in One of the Junior Golf TOUR Season
TRUMBULL, Conn. (June 28, 2011) - Joseph Catalina, 17 year old of Wolcott, Conn., arrived at Tashua Knolls for his 8:06 tee time just like any other Junior Golf TOUR tournament. After bogeying the par-5 first hole, Catalina came back with a four for par on the second. Catalina then teed off with an 8 iron on the 151 yard par-3 keeping his putting in his bag and a smile on his face. Congratulations Joseph!
Junior Golf TOUR Season begins at Ellington Ridge
ELLINGTON, Conn. (June 28, 2011) – The Junior Golf TOUR kicked off the exciting tournament season on a beautiful day at Ellington Ridge Country Club yesterday for the Camera Memorial Tournament. A field of 140 competed in the 18-hole event where Elizabeth DiVincentis of Durham, Conn, two time defending champion and 2010 Player of the Year, won the Girls 13-18 division shooting a five-over 77 with two birdies on the day. Mike Steinberg of West Hartford, Conn. took his first championship title home in the Boys 13-18 division shooting a two-over 74 with three birdies on the day.

Paesani Qualifies for Second Straight U.S. Senior Open
HAMILTON, N.Y. (June 27, 2011) – John Paesani from Norwich Golf Course fired a 4-under-par 68 at Colgate University’s Seven Oaks Golf Course in Hamilton, New York to qualify for the 2011 U.S. Senior Open. Paesani made five birdies and just one bogey and was co-medalist with Champions Tour Member Steve Pate and PGA Tour Member Willie Wood.
