Bowey and Kay Win Cleveland Golf/Srixon PGA Professional Golf League Championship

Beautiful New England Day at Hop Meadow Country Club

SIMSBURY, Conn. (October 6, 2011) – PGA Professionals, Bob Kay of Tumble Brook C.C. and Ryan Bowey of Indian Hill C.C. captured first place today shooting a one-under-par 71 at Hop Meadow C.C. for the Cleveland Golf/Srixon PGA Professional Golf League Championship in this alternate shot tournament. Finishing in second place just one stroke behind the leaders is John Vitale of Hawk’s Landing C.C. and Joe Mongillo, host Assistant Professional of Hop Meadow C.C. with an even par 72. Three teams tied for third place at one-over 73 including: Glenn Carlson of Torrington C.C. and Jeff DelRosso of Prospect Golf Driving Range; Dave Dell of Springfield C.C. and Ed Slattery Candlewood Valley C.C.; and Ian Marshall of Watertown G.C. and Sean Smedick, PGA Professional. The 23rd Southworth Senior PGA Professional National Championship

(October 6, 2011) - Fran Marrello of Canaan C.C., Jack McConachie of Pine Valley G.C., and Mickey Hawkes of Hawkes Golf Vehicles, are set to tee off today in the 23rd Southworth Senior PGA Professional National Championship beginning today at Creighton Farms in Aldie, Va., and River Creek Club in Leesburg, Va.

Leja and Evergreene Golf Center Win Team Competition in Mohegan Sun Pro-AM at Twin Hills

Four PGA Professionals Tie for Low Individual Pro

LONGMEADOW, Mass. (September 21, 2011) - The Evergreene Golf Center team, led by PGA Professional Frank Leja turned in a 14-under par, combined gross and net score of 128, to win the Mohegan Sun Pro-Am Series #5 at Twin Hills Country Club. Leja and amateur partners, Mark Consolini, Bill Melo, and Greg Strycharz, who collected the $800 first place prize.

 

PGA Professional Dave Cook and amateur partners Hap Murano, Kevin Willoughby, and Rob Renehan, made up the Pomeraug G.C. team finishing in second, four strokes behind, with a score of 132.

Marrello Goes Even Par to Win Connecticut Senior PGA Professional Qualifier

Salito and McConachie Qualify for 23rd Southworth Senior PGA Professional National Championship

SHERMAN, Conn. (September 19, 2011) – Fran Marrello of Canaan C.C. continues his outstanding playing season with another victory in the Connecticut Section PGA. Marrello fired an even par score of 70 to win the Connecticut Senior PGA Professional Qualifier today at The Club at River Oaks. Due to his 60th Senior Connecticut PGA Championship title, Marrello had already earned a berth into the 23rd Southworth Senior PGA Professional National Championship, October 6-8, at Creighton Farms in Aldie, Va. and River Creek Club of Leesburg, Va., leaving the final two qualifying positions to the second and third place finishers.

(September 14, 2011) – Three-time champion, Kevin Giancola, of Golf Quest Family Sports Center, pulled out his fourth title in the 80th Connecticut PGA Championship hosted by PGA Professional, Andrew Campbell and Black Hall Club administered by the Connecticut Section PGA. At the end of regular play, Giancola, four-time champion, Tony Kelley of Wyckoff C.C., and two-time champion, Fran Marrello of Canaan C.C., all sat at eight-over-par 221 to send one of the longest running golf events in New England, into an exciting final group sudden death playoff. OLD LYME, Conn. (September 13, 2011) – Round one leader of the 80th Connecticut PGA Championship, Kevin Giancola of Golf Quest Family Sports Center, fires a one-under-par 70 today to remain in the lead with a two round total of 142 even par. “I started pretty well and then got a little shakey in the middle,” explains Giancola. “I did have a nice birdie on 16 and a nice birdie on 17 to come down the stretch. A little sour taste in my mouth now after three-putting 18 but I was up on the top tier of the green.” View More

OLD LYME, Conn. (September 12, 2011) – Defending champion, Kevin Giancola of Golf Quest Family Sports Center and Kevin Shea of New London C.C. both fired a one-over-par 72 today at Black Hall Club to hold the lead after round one of the 80th Connecticut PGA Championship. Tied for third, Casey Roan of Shennecossett G.C. and Darren Falk, host assistant professional at Black Hall Club, are just one stroke back from the leaders with two-over 73.

80th Connecticut PGA Championship Returns to Black Hall Club After 10 Years

Three Major Anniversaries to be Remembered

ROCKY HILL, Conn. (September 9, 2011) – A historic Championship celebrates paramount milestones with the 80th edition of the Connecticut PGA Championship hosted by Andrew Campbell, PGA, and Black Hall Club, Monday-Wednesday, Sept. 12-14. The last time the Championship visited Old Lyme, was just four short days following the September 11th tragedy ten years ago. The decision was made to hold the event as scheduled as a symbol of American patriotism, with over $8,000 going to the American Red Cross, thanks to PGA Professionals who donated 10 percent of the prize purse which the Connecticut Section PGA matched.
