For the fourteenth consecutive year, Mohegan Sun will be the title sponsor of the PGA Pro-Am Series. The PGA Pro-Am Series consists of 7 Pro & 3 Am tournaments. PGA Professionals are required to register online for each Pro-Am separately (registration opens 30 days prior to each Pro-Am). The PGA Pro-Am Series is now operating on a first-come, first-serve basis. Registration Links can be found on the chart below. In the event of an over subscribed PGA Pro-Am, time of registration from earliest to latest determines the order in which properly registered section professionals receive their starting time preference. During the online registration process, members will be required to pay a non-refundable deposit of $50. The remaining balance of the total team entry fee must be paid onsite during the day of the event.
The section conducts Pro-Amateur competitions for the benefit of its members to compete and develop camaraderie with their golf facility members and/or patrons. The mission of the PGA Pro-Am series is to primarily serve those PGA members who are actively employed at Section PGA Recognized Golf Facilities. Competitions are combined best ball net and gross, with amateurs getting 80% of their course handicap, maximum of 18.
The top ten teams at each Pro-Am Series event will earn Ben Lewon Cup Points based upon their team score. Ben Lewon Cup points will be tracked over the course of the season through all Pro-Am Series events. The top nine (9) teams with the most points at the end of the season will qualify for the Mohegan Sun Pro-Am Team Championship which will be held on Tuesday, October 11, at Fox Hopyard Golf Club. The top nine teams from the Metropolitan Section PGA and New England Section PGA will also qualify for this season ending championship.
The team that accumulates the most Ben Lewon Cup points during the Mohegan Sun Pro-Am Series will be presented with the Ben Lewon Cup, symbolizing the annual Pro-Am Series team winner. Pomperaug Golf Course and PGA Professional Dave Cook were the 2009 and 2010 Ben Lewon Cup winners.
