The Walter Lowell PGA Tournament will be hosted by Clinton Country Club, Clinton,Conn., on Tuesday, May 31, 2011. Brian Keiser is the defending champion winning last year at The Farms Country Club with 27 points. The Water Lowell PGA tournament began in 2001 to honor PGA Professional Walter Lowell, the 1978 PGA of America Golf Professional of the Year and Honorary Life President of the section. The 18-hole competition is a modified Stableford, open to PGA Members. Mike Martin is a three time winner and holds the record for points with 31 in the 2009 Walter Lowell PGA Tournament. There are four divisions, based upon years of PGA membership, plus an overall winner and team winner. Annually, the section will honor a public golf course with the Walter Lowell Public Golf Course Distinguished Service Award during the tournament’s luncheon. The award is a tribute to the Canton Public Golf Course, the course the Lowell family operated for 70 years. Stanley Golf Course was honored in 2010 with the Walter Lowell Public Golf Course Distinguished Service Award. Only PGA Members are defined by TR&R are eligible to enter.
